What is oak used for?
Oak is a durable wood species. It is widely used for fencing off natural areas with trellises and posts.
How long does oak last in the ground?
That depends on many different circumstances. What type of soil are the piles in? Is this soil permanently moist or not? And what thickness of poles are used? The thicker the posts, the more heartwood the post contains and the longer the post will last. Oak falls in durability class 2-3 which generally means the posts will last 15-25 years.
