Split oak posts
Van Biezen Eikenhout also supplies split oak posts. Split oak posts have been used for centuries for fencing off meadows and nature reserves. In recent years, you see that cleaved oak posts are also increasingly used in the dunes. The advantage of a cleaved or cleaved post is that it is taken from a much thicker round oak pole. As a result, the oak cleaved post contains more heartwood than a round post of the same thickness and therefore lasts much longer.
Oak Chord size
We supply split oak in different lengths and in different diameters. A commonly used terminology to indicate the diameter of the split oak pole is the chord size. You measure the chord size of a split oak pole by drawing a straight line from one end of the bark to the other on the side where the bark is attached.
The most commonly used lengths are the: 1.6m/1.8m/2m/2.5m. We usually supply the length in cord size 10-15cm and in 15-20cm
Split oak can also be supplied pointed if required
