Fresh and wind-dried oak for outdoor use
Fresh oak is excellent for outdoor structures such as canopies, sheds, verandas and garden projects. It still contains a relatively large amount of moisture, but this does not usually pose a problem outdoors. Moreover, fresh oak can be worked well and dries gradually after installation.
We also stock wind-dried oak. This wood is naturally dried and has an average moisture content of 18 to 20%. This makes it perfect for outdoor projects where less wood action is desired.
Artificially dried oak for interiors
Indoor applications - such as furniture, stairs or other interior elements - require artificially dried oak wood. This wood is dried back to 10 to 12% moisture in special drying chambers, making it stable and immediately processable.
We do not keep artificially dried oak in stock as standard, but can deliver it on request. Total delivery time is usually around one month, excluding drying time. Depending on the dimensions of the wood, the drying time can vary from a few weeks to several months.
